I have been trained as in-house lawyer, and have worked in the (international) corporate world since 1999. Along the way, I have gained a wealth of experience in a diverse range of industries, geographies and cultures. It’s been a wonderful journey and I am grateful for the many different opportunities and experiences, and all it has taught me. Inevitably, I have also seen and experienced first hand the siloed thinking, competitive mindset and growth at all costs that are still so dominant in the corporate world today.

At some point during my career, a global MBA programme strengthened my holistic and systemic thinking. It gave me a whole new toolkit that served me well in my capacity as a general counsel. But it wasn’t until the Covid pandemic that I discovered that change & systems change (aka transition) are the topics that really light me up when I was part of a dutch impromptu think thank instigated by Jan Rotmans called ‘The Break-Out Team’. And so it happened that in recent years I have explored and studied transition (aka systems change) from various angles. My hunger for knowledge and the search for greater wisdom had me enroll in courses on regenerative leadership, systems thinking, neuroscience, trauma and more. And I cannot possibly count the number of books, articles and podcasts that I have read and listened to.

All this learning in recent years, and my 20+ years work experience in-house now come together in an unique online programme for legal professionals. The Beyond Compliance programme is designed for legal professionals that want to increase their knowledge base beyond the law so as to develop a broader perspective on the professional role they can play in developing sustainable organisations. It is my mission to equip legal professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to positively contribute to a more sustainable and just world.

My vision? I imagine a growing number of legal professionals becoming aware of the power of the law. And, I imagine the legal community taking a more active and prominent role in contributing to the regeneration of our societal systems by using the law as a force for good.
